This self-portrait started as a simple painting assignment in art class during my senior year of high school. We only had a week to turn it in and when the due date came along my teacher felt this piece had potential and nominated me for U.I.L. I spent 2 months perfecting my piece and took my teacher's critiques and added some major corrections. I ended up being a finalist for our district and state. I almost received a perfect score as well.
This painting is my favorite I've ever done by far as well as my first surrealism piece. I think it turned out beautifully and every night I spent staying up to paint rather than sleep was worth it.
